I first saw the tanker when collecting some Lancaster Bomber parts from the war time bomber command airfield at Methringham. A friend was restoring the old watch tower and had a collection of ground equipment including an 0854 tanker and trailer. The story then jumps on a year or so and involves to many drinks with a pal and a discussion about the tanker and the fact that Tim the owner, would never sell it. Well it turned out he would, and a few months later I'm the proud owner of a 2500 gallon fuel tanker.

The tanker, although generally in good shape, had been stood for a long time which doesn't do old vehicles any good. Brakes, engine and bodywork all required looking at. Most spares could be sourced but anything tanker related would be impossible as so few have survived. It is thought that less than 8 may be still in existence but none have either the refuelling booms or pumping gear left in place. This is the only example that is complete.
